All in the life of Maddie
If Friday night (June 10) was any indication, Maddie will do just fine at camp. The 3 of us left for camp right after work around 3:30pm. Sheira drove Maddie in the Sante Fe and I was driving one of the 15 passenger camp vans. We figured getting up to camp, dropping off our stuff, and coming back we would be home by 10pm-ish. On our way Sheira calls me up to say we have a change of plans. We have to stop in Milford at the other camps to pick up some staff and bring them up to Lake Como. No biggie, right? 2.5 hours later we finally get back on the road.
So far Maddie is a real trooper and isn't complaining a bit. She even had some camp food and survived.
We make it up to Como and lucky for her she's sleeping. She managed to stay asleep throughout most of the experience. Can't say I blame her. It was WAY past her bedtime. She did wake up to experience the craziness that is international staff. Suffice to say they shared things that a 13 month old should not be hearing. And yes...they were told as such by Sheira.
Saturday was spent at the Chrystal Springs Aquatic Center in East Brunswick with Sharon, Craig and Mommy Marlene. Even though Sheira got some sunburn (despite being told to put on sunscreen) we had an amazing time. Maddie loved splashing in the water and even going in the tube with daddy down the lazy river.
Sunday was Grandma Sophie's unveiling. Maddie introduced herself to the spirit of the Soph-ster by headbutting the stone. She got herself a little red mark on her cheek from it. It was great seeing the family again. We always seem to have a lot of fun when we get together.
Happy travels to Uncle Seth who is going back to Iraq this morning. It is everyone's hope that he will be back in the U.S. by early August.
